East Texas is experiencing it now, the ole dog days of summer. As I was writing that I immediately wondered where that phrase came from because I've heard it for so long.

After a quick Google search, Google AI returned with this explanation:

The phrase "dog days of summer" comes from the ancient Greeks and Romans, who believed that the hottest days of the year were caused by the combined heat of the sun and the star Sirius, also known as the "Dog Star". Sirius is the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major, which translates to "big dog" in Latin.

So with that explanation here we are in the Dog Days Of Summer! It's going to be another hot and humid weekend with the slimmest chances of a shower. So if you have any outdoor plans stay hydrated and keep that umbrella handy for a pop-up shower.

Here's a look at this weekend's events happening across East Texas.
