(East Texas) Let's hope you can relax in East Texas during your extended three-day weekend.

Memorial Day is on Monday. This weekend, I hope that everyone will take some time out of their weekend to pause, reflect, and remember the many men and women who have proudly served our country and in doing so, paid with their lives so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have today.

If it weren't for these brave men and women serving our nation for the past, nearly 250 years, our current world may look a lot different.

We owe them a debt of gratitude.

While this federal holiday has been over-commercialized with holiday sales on home appliances from the big box indoor lumber yards and such, take time to remember the reason for the holiday.

This weekend will be a weekend of connections with family and friends and a weekend full of cookouts and time spent by the pool or on the lake. Or others may be spending it catching up on some home projects or manicuring the lawn! You do you this weekend.
