A mother of a Tyler Legacy High School student recently shared her concern about alleged 'church activity' taking place near the school in Tyler, Texas.

She shared what happened in a local social media group and we are curious if you agree with her concerns. I would be wary, too, if it were me. So, what the heck happened?

This Tyler mom shared that she'd gone to pick up her child from school in the afternoon. She'd parked over on the side close to Hobby Lobby where Macy's used to be. She noticed several adults were nearby "preaching the word" and handing out leaflets or pamphlets of some kind. She assumed they were of a religious nature.

Granted, the 'church group' folks were not officially on school property. At the same time, she said she was concerned about the fact that these adults were wandering up and talking to underage kids AND especially concerned about them touching them on their arms and backs. She said she was creeped out by the whole thing, despite the fact they didn't interact with her child.

Even though the group didn't interact with her child, she was concerned and wished she'd gotten ahold of one of their pamphlets to see where they were from exactly.

If this was your kid in this scenario, would you be concerned? Even if your religious beliefs "line up" with those being put forth by this group, are you comfortable with strangers telling your kids what they should believe? Why or why not?

Various people responded, many echoing her concern. One lady commented with a warning that she'd heard about a "cult" posing as a more traditional religious group not too far from Tyler. Another man said he was fine with it, even going so far as to say "Jesus blessed the children." Honestly, that people (as well meaning as they likely were, are NOT Jesus. We really have to be careful these days.

Others celebrated the proselytizing by the church people while others chimed in about "separation of church and state." (Oh yeah, that. ;) )

However one feels about the latter, when it comes to people we don't know interacting with our kids at school, it's better to be safe...at least in my opinion.
