After watching a tic tok video of a 'Check Your Privilege' Challenge I wanted to invite anyone who is of non African-American descent to hold up 10 fingers and take a finger down if you have been affected by the following 10 questions.

  1. Put a finger down if you have been called a racial slur.
  2. Put a finger down if you have been followed through a store unnecessarily.
  3. Put a finger down if someone has crossed the street to avoid passing you.
  4. Put a finger down if you had someone clinch their purse in an elevator with you.
  5. Put a finger down if someone has gotten off of an elevator to keep riding with you.
  6. Put a finger down if you have been accused of not being able to afford something expensive.
  7. Put a finger down if you have been terrified while being stopped by the police.
  8. Put a finger down if you have been denied service solely because of the color of your skin.
  9. Put a finger down if you have been stopped or detained by the police for no valid reason.
  10. Put a finger down if you had to teach your child about how to not get killed by the police.

If you have any fingers left....That is privilege!

Those ten questions are just a mere glimpse of what African-Americans like myself have been dealing with since the day before FOREVER when it comes to racism and discrimination.

However, I must acknowledge that not all people who are of non African-American descent are racist and tired of it just like I am and for that I am thankful.

I have to say thank you to my non African-American co-workers and friends who have checked on me to voice their concern and asked how can they lend a helping hand on the fight to end racism.

After taking a moment to think about it, non African-Americans can start by reciting this pledge to stand with the African-American community when it comes to racism and discrimination.

I'm not black, but I see you.

I'm not black, but I hear you.

I'm not black, but I mourn with you.

I'm not black, but I see the injustice that you face daily.

I'm not black, but I see your fear for your sons and even your daughters.

I'm not black, but I will stand with you.

I'm not black, but Black Lives Matter and I don't care how much backlash I get from this because BLACK LIVES MATTER and pledge to stand beside the African-American community.

Do you fully understand what you just recited?  Because now it's going to get very UNCOMFORTABLE if you have a family member, co-worker, or any individual exercising racism and discrimination when you use your voice to address it.

IT'S TIME TO MAKE AMERICA UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN IT COMES TO RACISM!!!!

Also, another way to get involved is with your local NAACP, Urban League, or any organization that is about equality not just for African-American's but for everyone.

The moment we recognize who our allies are the better we can unite, organize, and burn the neighborhood of racism down to the ground.

So now that you have seen and felt our pain I ask this simple question.....

Will you stand with us?
