5th Annual ‘Wings Over Pegasus’ Set For April 20
Just a quick review on this wonderful organization: The Pegasus Project is a group of caring people in East Texas whose mission is to protect and to rehabilitate horses who have been abused or neglected. They are a non-profit group located on 95 beautiful acres near Ben Wheeler. The founders, Allyson and Mike DeCanio, along with the entire Pegasus team, are committed to working alongside other organizations for animal welfare, responding to complaints about horse cruelty, investigating, and rescuing those horses who are in need. The horses are then given rest and a sanctuary where they are loved back to health, retrained as needed, and made ready to find their forever homes.
And now, you are invited to attend the 5th annual 'Wings Over Pegasus' equine and aviation event, which has been set for Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pegasus Ranch, located at 7111 FM 2339 in Murchison. Parking on-site for only $10.
I've been 4 of the 5 years, and I tell ya, it's a wonderful event for the entire family. It has the breezy, casual feel of a fair--very laid back and friendly. Of course, you'll have the opportunity to meet the horses that live on the Pegasus Ranch and meet their trainers. Be sure and get a photo with the winged-donkey, "Pegasito." He'll be waiting for you in his kissing booth.
You can also enjoy "The Raptor" airshow, skydivers, horse games, an Easter egg hunt, arts and crafts, a silent auction, pony rides, face painting, and a raffle drawing for two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines. Be sure to bring the kids because the Piney Woods Experimental Aircraft Association/Young Eagles Program will offer free airplane rides to kids between the ages of 8 and 17. If you get hungry, there will be several gourmet food trucks on-site.
The SPCA of East Texas will also be there with dogs that are looking for their forever homes, too.
