Before you all decide to go through that drive-thru at your favorite fast food restaurant you might want to think twice as a new study revealed that fast food has gotten unhealthier over the past decades.

According to Fox News, Boston University researchers have looked at the calorie count and sodium levels of numerous entrees, sides, an desserts at 10 popular fast food restaurants and the results are staggering.

Basically, the chains had "increased" levels of calories, sodium, and portion sizes over the past 30 years!

Dr. Megan McCrory the study leader spoke in more detail about her findings

We need to find better ways to help people consume fewer calories and sodium at fast-food restaurants.  The requirement that chain restaurants display calories on their menus is a start. We would like to see more changes, such as restaurants offering smaller portions at a proportional prices.

In spite of the bad news the only good thing out of this study was that the iron levels in entrees, and iron and calcium in desserts have grown over the years.

I guess I'll be drinking smoothies for a while!
