Residents Of Craft-Turney Water Supply Ordered ‘Do Not Use Water’ Notice
Residents to the southeast of Jacksonville have been ordered not to drink their water or allow pets to drink water from the faucet.
The Craft-Turney Water Supply corporation has issued a 'do not use' notice to customers. A statement from the company posted online at KLTV states:
Due to conditions which have occurred recently in the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has instructed Craft-Turney Water Supply to issue a do not use the water order for the area as described below. This includes no human or animal consumption, no bathing, no cooking, no irrigating, etc. until further notice. Water sampling is being conducted and further information will be provided after sampling results are evaluated.
This immediate do not use warning goes further than just drinking the water. According to East Texas Matters the notice also includes:
- no human or animal consumption
- no bathing
- no cooking
- no irrigating, etc. until further notice
The areas affected are bordered by the following roads:
- North boundary is south side of Loop 456
- West boundary are County Roads 1615 and 1616 (including US 69 South)
- East boundary State Highway 204
- South boundary is FM 768
The press release that was released did not give a specific explanation for the 'do not use' notice and that water sampling is currently being conducted.
