The Humane Society's Pets Fur People in Tyler is in danger of shutting down. The shelter needs our help to raise $90,000 in 90 days or they won't make it through this season.

You've seen the featured Pet of Week here before, and maybe you've considered adopting from Pets Fur People, but what you may be not be aware of is that the organization is completely funded by private donations.

And they desperately need our help.

What will make the difference for dogs and cats in East Texas? A significant number of monthly donors, according to their GoFundMe page.

As of Tuesday morning, the GoFundMe campaign has raised almost $2,000 in five days. Through the support of local government and private donors, this organization has been in East Texas for 50 years, and processed over 400,000 pets through its doors.

Director Gayle Helms is looking for 200 people to make a commitment of $100 per month, which will be enough to keep Pets Fur People Open.
