I'm definitely what you might consider an "advocate for the arts." I'm a strong believer in how art can transform our societies, both literally and figuratively. So, as you can imagine I'm pretty excited about the ever-growing and now thriving arts community in East Texas. Anytime we can support and encourage artists doing their work right here at home, I think that's a good idea.

Gold Leaf Gallery in Tyler is holding an Opening Reception, 'Showcasing East Texas Artists,' October 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. at their location in the French Quarter Shopping Center. Featuring work from more than fifteen East Texas artists, this is an opportunity to celebrate their work.

If for some reason you're interested in seeing their work but aren't able to attend the event, their work will be on display through December 21. According to the Gold Leaf Gallery Facebook event page, these are the artists whose work will be on display:

Stacy Deslatte, Andrea Rowan, Hellen Martin, Kim Hill, Robert Puschautz, Dennis 'O Bryant, Rita Morris, Becky Martin, Britt Pugh, Ramona Freeman, Sharon Grimes, Frankie Davis, Paula Hodge, Sylvia Morse, Mary Hortman, Brett Mitchell, Valeria Barnhill, Tammy Bowers, and Les Mitchell.

Go be inspired! Hey, maybe you'll find inspiration to delve into your own artistic tendencies.
