Legalized gambling could eventually be a reality in the Lone Star State, but until then East Texans must travel across state lines to Louisiana or Oklahoma if they want to take a chance with Lady Luck to win that jackpot at one of the many casinos that surround Texas.

East Texans have been making that drive east on Interstate 20 to 'hit the boats' in Bossier City for decades now. They make the trek to throw down some cash on that craps table, roulette wheel, or blackjack table, or drop some coin in the slots with hopes of coming back with a huge jackpot for their bank account!

Bossier City is currently gearing up for a new gaming experience with the opening of Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana sometime in the first quarter of 2025. This new gaming resort will sit on the site of the former Diamond Jacks Casino that closed during the pandemic in 2020.

As construction moves along on the 47,000-square-foot gaming floor, hotel, pool, fitness center, event center, restaurants, and hotel rooms the company behind Live! partnered with the Shreveport and Bossier City Arts Council to search for artwork for their new resort.

An open call was sent out to Northwest Louisiana artists to submit artwork for the new facility. The response was overwhelming from the art community. After judging the many submissions that were created, The Cordish Companies, the parent company of Live!, announced that 12 local artists would have their artwork proudly and prominently displayed near the new event center.

Local artists can say, that's my work, right there on that wall!

Jenn Ryland of Stonewall said,

I cannot begin to express the amount of gratitude I have for being chosen as a finalist to display my own rendition of the Louisiana culture that is deeply embedded into the swamps and nightlife in our area. As a lifelong native of Northwest Louisiana, I am beyond honored to be a part of this local art recognition in our very own Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana."

Karin Ebbesson, a Shreveport artist said,

I am deeply honored to contribute to an environment that celebrates the human experience, where guests can engage with not just their surroundings but with the creative expressions that make these moments truly memorable."

The following art pieces will be displayed inside Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana when it opens in the spring of 2025.
