It was just a few short months ago when Bill and Ted fans everywhere were overjoyed to hear the news. After many years of Hollywood "back-and-forths" on funding and other details involved in getting the green light on production, it was finally made official that the long-awaited third installment in the beloved 'Bill and Ted' movies series was set to begin filming in summer 2019. Well here we are. :)

As mentioned in my previous article, you may recall from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey that the fate of the world was to be forever altered in a most excellent way by the music that the then teenage Bill and Ted, aka Wyld Stallyns, would someday create. It was said it would bring harmony, peace, and prosperity to future generations. Bill and Ted 3: Face the Music picks up the story with a now middle-aged Bill and Ted struggling with the fact that they've yet to accomplish this most momentous task.

When many of us think of Bill and Ted, we think of sunny California. So it was an interesting twist to hear the movie would be shot in New Orleans, Louisiana. Thanks to Twitter updates from Ed Solomon, one of the writers of all three films, (along with his co-writer Chris Matheson,) fans have been treated to a bit of a "play-by-play" as the cast and crew began to be assembled and then to gather in N'awlins for pre-production, rehearsals, and cast dinners.

One of the most exciting tweets for fans was when Solomon tweeted the official beginning of filming on the movie would start on Monday, July 1:

And then he graciously shared the very first shot that morning. Although it wasn't of Bill and Ted themselves--again played by Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, but rather their now grown daughters, Thea Preston, played by Samara Weaving, and Billie Logan, played by Brigette Lundy-Paine. Hmm. Are their daughters gonna play an integral role in helping save the world? We're interested to see where this goes. :)

Fans everywhere cheered! Well, I can't confirm that scientifically, of course. But as a devoted fan myself, I think I can speak for at least a good portion of the Bill and Ted fandom. However, if I could get my hands on that time-traveling phone booth for just a few hours...

"Be excellent to each other." --Bill and Ted
