Spring brings everyone out of the house looking for some fresh air after being stuck indoors during the cold weather. And it's not just people coming out of the house to enjoy the warm sunshine and breeze, they're also bringing their dogs out too! I for one seem to be doing this more and more here lately - taking my dog along with me in the truck while on a quick errand or out for walks more often before it gets unbearably hot!

I remember when I was little we would take our dog with us on the weekend when we had to go to the bank on Saturday mornings to deposit my parents paychecks (thankful for direct deposit these days!), or we'd go to the pharmacy to pick up medicine. While at the drive-up window the clerks would make a comment about our dog and send them a couple of dog treats back through the tube!

I thought it was awesome they'd do that for my dog! Well, there are some restaurants in Tyler that will do something very similar to that for your dog and there's quite a few other places that are very dog friendly too. The website Bring Fido has compiled a list of eleven local restaurants around Tyler that are dog friendly. Here's a look at a few of them:

    Andy's Frozen Custard

    S. Broadway Ave. between Old Grande Blvd. and Donnybrook

This is the number one place on my daughter's list for after-dinner dessert or anytime she needs a frozen yogurt fix - Andy's is the place and our dog is usually with us! This time of year you can usually spot a dog or two and especially throughout the summer hanging by its owner on a leash at the walk-up window or hanging out on the patio behind the building by the long drive thru line! Andy's has a special puppy cone for your little Fido for free! It's a small vanilla custard cone just for them!

    Razzoo's Cajun Cafe

    S. Broadway Ave and Thigpen Dr.

Razzoo's recently started allowing you to dine with your best friend on the patio only as long as they're leashed! If you're four legged friend isn't accustomed to spicy food, you might just want to hold off on trying to sneak them a little something under the table!

    Gus' Mexican Restaurant

FM 2493 (Old Jacksonville Hwy.) and FM 2813 - Gresham

Tucked away behind a couple of fast food chains and a gas station, Gus' is one of the best Mexican food joints in town that has a quaint little patio that is perfect for you and Fido to have dinner.

    Jul's

Old Jacksonville Hwy. (south of Grande Blvd.) - Tyler

Several positive reviews have been left because Jul's is very pet friendly. The patio is spacious enough to have your lifelong companion with you for brunch, lunch or dinner and they've also been known to have homemade puppy treats on occasions as one reviewer noted.
