(Tyler, Texas) Becoming a pet owner in Tyler, Texas, is as easy as donating entertainment items to benefit a very special group of people.

Few things in this world can provide you with unconditional love, and one of those things that has an unlimited supply of unconditional love is an animal. Whether it be a dog, cat, bird, hamster, horse, or a rabbit, animals usually give you nothing but love in return.

Animal shelters across East Texas are nearing or at capacity, and they can no longer accept pets. One shelter in Tyler is hosting a special event this month to get more pets adopted while helping a special group of people at the same time.

What You Can Donate

Tyler Animal Services will be waiving the adoption fee for dogs and cats throughout August with a donation of G or PG-rated movies, word search books, coloring books, colored pencils, or Sharpies with a value of $50 or more.

Once you decide on which animal you want, simply donate, and the standard adoption fee of $120 for dogs and $80 for cats will be waived.

What’s Included with Every Adoption

Upon adoption, all animals will have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

Where Your Donation Is Going

As far as the donated items, they will go to the residents of Breckenridge Village. Breckenridge Village is a caring residential community for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.

Residents here will receive joy from the donated movies, word search books, and other items.

While the residents receive entertainment from the donation, you will receive love in return from the dog or cat that you rescued from the animal shelter.
