Two days ago, multiple news sources reported about a woman getting into a car crash in Idaho - she blamed Bigfoot.

Every region in the world has folklore or mythical tales revolving around the history of local cities and towns. Some places that are heavy on the wilderness (ahem.. East Texas) even have mythical creatures - some say not so mythical - lurking around in the woods. You know what I'm talking about, don't you? Yes.... you do. Bigfoot!

Now I'm not saying I believe in Bigfoot/Sasquatch, but there are enough people out there in the world that do believe in the East Texas Wooly Booger, so who am I to judge?

However, if there is a Bigfoot walking around out there, it would most likely be in East Texas, according to the map of Texas sightings at bfro.net (The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization).

According to the map, there have been multiple sightings in our area (again, take this with a grain of salt):

Even local news stations have done stories about Bigfoot sightings. Check out the CBS story about a sighting  just outside of the Rusk city limits one year ago.

As mentioned in the story, there are professional Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yeti trackers that go on expeditions to discover the unfounded creature. Groups likes East Texas Bigfoot Hunters, East Texas Sasquatch Expeditions, Squatchin' and more consist of avid fans of the barefoot behemoth - some want to hunt it, and some just want to see it.

According to Wikipedia:

The Piney Woods Region of the four state area is a noted area for Bigfoot (Sasquatch) sightings; with many legends dating back to pre European settlement. The area according to references lists this area to be the third highest in North America for these such sightings.

What do you think? Are you a believer? I'm pretty skeptical as I am with ghosts and UFOs, but I'm not one to completely dismiss an idea because I haven't seen it with my own two eyes.

Share your stories and photos with us and get the conversation going. And next time you get into a car wreck, blame it on Sasquatch. Throw out your beef jerky though.
