TEXAS: The Days Around Thanksgiving Have Special Meanings
People all across East Texas will soon be feeling the rush of the Christmas holiday season. Knowing exactly what day of the week it is could save them hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. With Thanksgiving falling late in November this year, East Texans have fewer shopping days to find that perfect gift to fit that special someone in their life.
As we're all gathering for Thanksgiving with friends and family, we're intently listening to all the conversations around us for a few casual hints that everyone is dropping on something they hope to receive for Christmas this year.
Once the turkey, sides, and desserts have been consumed on Thanksgiving Day, all eyes turn to shopping and what it's going to take to get that perfect gift. For the past few weeks, consumers have already been bombarded by holiday sales and ads, several of which began airing before Halloween.
This is a crucial time for retail businesses as they are hoping to make a lot of revenue from now until the end of the year. Over the past decade or so the days surrounding Thanksgiving have taken on a new meaning and they've acquired a personality of their own.

Black Friday is traditionally the biggest day in the retail world when it seems like literally everything is on sale. This day could actually make or break a business's year depending upon the day's sales.
Small Business Saturday was created by a credit card company to show support for local mom-pop types of businesses because Black Friday is usually dominated by big box retailers and huge chain retailers.
For now, Sunday is still a day for church, relaxation, and recharge to prepare for what's coming up on Monday.
Cyber Monday has become the largest sales day for online retailers. Just like the big box retailers and small businesses, these online stores will run unprecedented sales in an effort to get those dollars that weren't spent in the last four days.
That then brings us to Giving Tuesday. After navigating the busy stores and doing a lot of shopping, it's time for us to support local non-profits and charities on Giving Tuesday. These organizations are here year-round and do their best to support those in need within our communities and they are looking for support as well.
So when you sit down for Thanksgiving dinner be thankful for all that you have as you begin to think ahead and plan your shopping. Making a plan could save you a lot of money depending on the day you go shopping this time of year.
