East Texas Holiday Magic: Clydesdales at Wonderland of Lights

(Marshall, Texas) If you've ever seen the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales in action, you know how beautiful and powerful they are. If you've never had the opportunity to see these majestic horses, then you need to get to Marshall, Texas, to see them for yourself. This beautiful horse team will be in town and will be a part of the Marshall Wonderland of Lights experience this year.

I’ve seen these stunning horses twice: once at the Anheuser-Busch facility in St. Louis, Missouri, and again last year at the State Fair of Texas with my wife. At the state fair, there were several Clydesdales in stables that you could see for yourself. You really don't grasp the size of these gentle giants until you're right up next to them.

If you've been in East Texas for any number of years, you know each year at Christmas, the Harrison County Courthouse in Marshall is lit up with thousands of lights during the Wonderland of Lights celebration. This event has been happening each year since 1987, and it will happen again this year, beginning on Wednesday, November 26.

Clydesdales Public Viewing and Meet-and-Greet Opportunities

The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will be making their second appearance at Wonderland of Lights this year. Their first appearance was in 2006. Marshall Main Street made the announcement that the team was coming to town thanks to R&K Distributors. You will have several opportunities to see the horses, the team, and see them in action.

A public viewing event at the Marshall City Arena - December 8-13 - with select Clydesdales
A public viewing event at the Marshall City Arena - December 8, 9, 10, and 12 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. - will feature the full team
A special meet-and-greet event with a Clydesdale at High Horse 1898 will happen on December 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A full hitch appearance in front of the Harrison County Courthouse - December 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The drive to Marshall from anywhere in East Texas to see these majestic, world-famous horses is definitely worth it.

Wonderland of Lights Activities for the Whole Family

In addition to the Budweiser Clydesdales this year, Marshall's Wonderland of Lights will be full of activities nightly from November 28 through January 3. There is an outdoor Christmas Market, an ice skating rink in front of the courthouse, parades, live music, holiday treats, a carousel, carriage rides, Santa's Village, train rides, and more. Note: Some activities require a small fee.
