A Beloved Tyler Business Now Forced to Close January 31st

A beloved East Texas business left a sad message on its social media page on New Year's Day announcing that January will be its last month in operation. Their final day in business will be January 31st.

The Board Room Tyler, located at 3502 S Broadway in the Broadway Town Center (formerly the Olde English Shopping Village), made the tough announcement that it would be closing its doors for good, leaving many who loved playing games there feeling sad.

The Board Room Tyler was a place for the community to gather and play board games, strategy games, trivia games, and assemble puzzles in an inviting atmosphere. In addition to gaming it was a place for artists to buy supplies for their creations, do a little shopping, and chill with a cup of coffee with friends.

The veteran-owned business first opened in November 2023 (KETK). The owner states in their social media post,

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to those of you that spent your time and money here, and I hope the experience was worth it. It was my sincere pleasure meeting so many of you, and I am thankful to have made many new friends. I look forward to catching up with you over a game or two around town in the days ahead."

Besides the gamers who visited and played games in the store, it was the employees who made it fun and extremely inviting. He praises them for their service and dedication to the business.

No specific reason was given in the post for the closure. It is sad to learn about an East Texas business closing at any time, but especially at the beginning of the year.

The Board Room Tyler states they honor any outstanding gift cards or IOUs through the end of the month and their business hours may shift until the 31st.

They added they're open to selling some of the fixtures in the store as well as equipment and games from the vast library of games on hand.
