The East Texas Yamboree celebrates the yam! East Texans will be headed to Gilmer every night this week through Saturday to experience the carnival, but the Yamboree is more than that! There's the queen's coronation, parade, livestock show, live music, street and barn dances, car show, 5k and one minle run and contests too! These contests feature baking a yam pie, yam pie recipe, canning and more. There's something for everyone at the East Texas Yamboree this weekend!

Thinkstock Hot Pepper Festival

The heat is being turned up in Palestine Saturday for the Hot Pepper Festival in downtown! Peppers of all kind will be the center of attraction with special contests created specifically for them, including a salsa making contest, pepper eating, chili cookoff and more. Activities include petting zoo, tractor show, live music, kids area and of course the Hot Pepper parade Saturday morning at 10! There will be special art and crafts vendors in the downtown area selling their creations.

It's unique. It's Ben Wheeler. It's the Feral Hog Festival! This festival will feature a hog calling contest, art vendors, live music from 11a to 6p, along with cooking competitions, a parade, queen's pageant and many other vendors! Among those scheduled to appear on stage are Chance Pena (former contestant on The Voice) and internet sensation and Chewbacca Mom, Candace Payne!
