Texans Want You to Quit Giving These Candies Out on Halloween
If there is one thing all people -- or at least 97% by my guess -- enjoy about Halloween, it's the candy. Especially for all of those young trick-or-treaters who are ready to hit the neighborhoods of Texas and fill the bags with candy. And of course, it's fun as accompanying adults to snag a piece of chocolate every now and then as well.
But there are some candies that when you see them dropped into your Halloween goodie bag, your excitement wavers a little. Taste in sweet treats will be different for everyone, but there are some items that a majority of people, especially kids, would rather not get for Halloween.
Halloween is the time of the year to stock up on yummy sweet treats, not odd things
As adults passing out candy, it's tempting to pick the healthy choice to give to your young visitors on Halloween night. Things like fruit, bars, or even little toys to avoid sugar altogether.
But if you want to be known as the 'best house for candy' by local trick-or-treaters, I'd avoid items such as that. Kids get so excited about all the sweet and sour candy they will receive, so things like apples will likely go untouched.
Unless you want trick-or-treaters to avoid your doorstep -- then give out all the random health items you'd like!
Even when it comes to candy there are some things very few people want
It's good to simply stick with the basics -- Twix, Skittles, Hershey bars, gummy worms, suckers, KitKats, and other well-known candies. When you try to get creative with candy from 'your time' (not calling anyone old, but candy does change through generations!) there's a chance kids will not like it.
When in doubt, just go for chocolate, and follow this list of the worst candies to hand out on Halloween from Good Housekeeping:
