This weekend you'll most likely want to find something to do in East Texas that doesn't involve being in the heat for a long period of time. Temperatures are forecast to be as high as 105 to 107 degrees on Saturday and Sunday and that's BEFORE factoring in the humidity levels. We have to patiently live through this stretch of 100-degree days before more comfortable weather arrives with the changing of the season in about a month.

With the weather in mind, we'll seek things to do indoors and in the air conditioning. Whether that's playing a board game with the kids at the kitchen table, going to catch the 'Barbie' movie again in the theaters, or driving over to Shreveport for Geek'd Con. Doing some indoors is the name of the game this weekend.

However, not all events are indoors and there are some fun outdoor activities to be a part of this weekend, just keep the heat and your hydration in mind.

The largest comic convention in the Ark-La-Tex will feature panels of TV and film guests, comic book creators, local and regional artists, and many vendors at the Shreveport Convention Center. There is an admission fee for this event.

The Freedom Runners invite you to run Rose Rudman Trail at Southside Park (near Shiloh Rd.) in Tyler in a 5k, 10k, or 15k fun run. If running isn't your thing, you can walk the 5k.

Medieval Carnival
