Make-A-Wish Grants Wish for East Texas Toddler
Thanks for hanging out with me tonight! I'll be here every weeknight from 7 to midnight, and we'll rock out and laugh and have a good time. But let's start with this cool story I found from another East Texas town. Got a kid or two or three? Me too. And I always like it when good things happen to good kids.
The Make-a-Wish Foundation has been granting wishes to children with incurable diseases for many years, and an East Texas toddler became the most recent wish recipient over the weekend.
Guess where he's headed?
Karter Whittenberg of Eustace, a town northwest of Athens on Highway 175, is headed to Disney World!
Karter's family was awarded the trip Sunday by the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and in a short while they'll be spending seven days with Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie. Karter is three years old, and has nephrotic syndrome, which is a treatable kidney disease, but there is no permanent cure for it.
He'll be able to focus on the fun very soon. Disney World is amazing! I took a trip there earlier this year, and realized why everyone says it's a magical place. It is truly one of the rare spots in the world where big dreams are encouraged and not looked down upon or laughed off, and kids (and adults too) leave the parks and resorts feeling a little happier than when they arrived. Karter and his family will be leaving in about a month, and KTRE reports they'll see Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World.
