This Weekend Is Tyler Civic Theatre’s Opening Of ‘Mamma Mia!’

OK, so this is one of those movies you've probably heard a significant other or family member emoting over at some point. The story of this musical is told via the "legendary music of ABBA, Mamma Mia! has become a worldwide sensation that has audiences everywhere dancing." And now, it's coming to the stage right here in East Texas.

Want an out of the ordinary date idea or want to suggest a perfect outing for the girls (and/or musical-loving guys you know)? And hey, this is a great way to support one of our great local East Texas theatres. "Mamma Mia!" opens this weekend at the Tyler Civic Theatre and runs for the next three weekends.

A brief synopsis? Set on a little island off the coast of the Greece mainland, Sophie is hoping for a fairy tale wedding which includes her father giving her away. There's just one. tiny. problem. Her mother doesn't quite know who he is. Sophie's mom also just so happens to be the former lead singer of a 1970's pop group. Her mother is also a bit hesitant to discuss the past. Thus, Sophie is compelled to face the issue head on and takes a look into her mother's old journals where she finds clues about three potential fathers. Sophie decides to invite them all to the wedding. Well, you can imagine where this might be going.
