Throughout my childhood to my adult years I have always believed in the power of prayer.

Since I was a child my grandmother would tell me that "prayer changes things" and Louis Cabarubio is a witness to that as he survived COVID-19.

The 75 year-old Texas native from Texas City was out fishing one day and the next thing he remembered was waking up in the hospital per ABC 7 Chicago.

Cabarubio's daughter Norma said his condition was so severe that doctors said he wouldn't make it throught the night as COVID-19 was in his lungs and placed on a ventilator.

To the doctors surprise Louis made it through the night and he continued to fight days after.

Due to social distancing guidelines the family would get on a Zoom call everyday at 7 p.m. to pray for Louis recovery.

The family also stayed in contact with the Nurses as they put the phone up to his ear as they told him to hold on as they prayed.

Louis started to show signs of recovery and after being in ICU for a month, he came off the ventilator right on time for his 75th birthday and days later he walked out of the hospital on his own to cheers from his Nurses and family.

I really feel that got my dad through this. It was the prayers. The power of prayer is real.

You can now find Louis at home wearing his new favorite shirt "COVID Survivor 2020" and he continues to show signs of getting better.

We are glad you're here Mr. Cabarubio!  Thank you for being an inspiration to all during this pandemic.
