A great-grandmother, who also happens to be the newly elected town mayor, had the last word in a feud with a massive alligator that has gone on for about two years.

According to The Houston Chronicle, it took only one shot by Mayor Judy B. Cochran to take down the 12-foot, 580-pound gator at her ranch in Goodrich, Texas.

But there's more to this story, as Mayor Cochran explained:

We think this is the gator that ate one of our miniature horses several years ago, as big as this gator was, he could've easily eaten it. Typically the gators don't bother us, but we've been looking for (this one).

Hunting gators is a family affair, according to the Houston Chronicle, because Mayor Cochran's catch was in the same pond where her then 5-year-old grandson bagged a gator in 2009.

Cochran is not only the new mayor, she also just became a great-grandmother. Her grandchildren warn: "Don't mess with Nana!"
