Newborn Found Alive in Walmart Shopping Bag

A newborn found wrapped in a Wal-Mart shopping bag is listed in good condition after the baby girl was found abandoned near a Houston-area apartment complex Tuesday night.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the baby was breathing on her own when she was found by a resident walking her dogs. The woman told authorities one of her dogs picked up a scent near a fence at the apartment complex located in Cypress.

Deputies say the umbilical cord was still attached. The infant was transported to a hospital for observation.

Further information on the search for the mother was not immediately released.
