Could The Last East Texas Red Lobster Location Also Close Soon?
Red Lobster Recently Closed Several East Texas Locations And They Want To Close More.
In a shocking move that everyone is still talking about weeks later, Red Lobster abruptly closed dozens of restaurants across the country after the company filed for bankruptcy last month.
Red Lobster said that it had more than $1 billion in debt and less than $30 million in cash on hand. It plans to sell its business to its lenders, and in turn, it will receive financing to stay afloat. Part of its plan is to close some locations of its nearly 600 restaurants in the meantime.
The Tyler, Longview and Lufkin Locations Are Officially Closed.
Customers in East Texas were hit the hardest as 3 locations were immediately closed just before the company made its bankruptcy filing.
In November, the company reported that they lost roughly $11 million during the third quarter of 2023 because of its all-you-can-eat shrimp promotion which they made a permanent menu item in June 2023.
At the time, it only cost $20. In November, the company said it would be raising the price to $25 because more people are taking advantage of the promotion than they expected and that customers were spending LESS money on other menu items and drinks.
A new list of locations in danger of closing was revealed in court filings last week.
According to a report from CNN, 15 more Texas locations could be closing if they can't negotiate new leases that would keep them open.
One of those locations is in Texarkana at 3002 St. Michael Drive which is the last open Red Lobster location in East Texas. Several locations in Austin, San Antonio and Houston also face closure as well as a few in the Dallas suburbs.
This could be your very last chance to enjoy Red Lobster within a 100 mile radius so if you're a fan, you might want to head over there soon.
