These Texas Cities Are Hotspots For Getting Sick With the Flu

Texas is a magnet on having things that will get you sick, especially pollen. And who wants to get sick? Nobody that's who. But it turns out, there are at least 3 different cities in the state of Texas that not only are likely to get you sick with the flu, they rank in the top 10.

Which 3 Texas cities are the biggest hot spots for the flu?

According to the Walgreens flu index, they have an interactive map of the entire United States. Along the side, they had a list of the top 10 areas/states with the highest flu activity from 10/28/23. Texas ranked right in the middle at #5; with 4 of their cities all throughout the top cities with the highest flu activity:

El Paso/Las Cruces ranked at #10,
Houston ranked #6,
Beaumont-Port Arthur ranked #4
and right at #1 was Harlingen-Weslaco-Brownsville-McAllen.

Of course this is just one source; the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) also mentioned that many of the flu & influenza cases occur near Northern & Central Texas. In fact, it's interesting to point out that while 4 cities rank highly in the risk of getting sick with the flu, the CDC says the state is a low risk.

The states that show even HIGHER flu activity include Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, New Mexico, Alaska & Hawaii.

Regardless on where you live, the CDC recommends to get a flu vaccine shot as soon as possible, to wash your hands anytime you're out in public or if you're feeling ill & to take the proper meds to avoid getting sicker.
