Texas Deputies Save 18-Month-Old Child Turning Blue

(KNUE-FM) It’s amazing the work that law enforcement officers handle every day here in Texas. We are talking about real heroes that do everything possible to serve and protect the citizens in the Lone Star State.

Often, law enforcement doesn't get the recognition they deserve, but that doesn’t stop them from doing everything possible to help those in need. And while it’s difficult to keep up on all the life saving measures that law enforcement helps out with, social media helps us understand more of the unexpected situations they deal with.

It was just a few days ago, I was on social media and saw a video from the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office about two deputies that saved the life of an 18-month-old child.

How the Emergency Began

The frantic situation took place December 14, 2025 after a child was unconscious and turning blue. Deputies arrived on the scene in 7 minutes and decided they needed to transport the child to the hospital as quickly as possible if they were going to save the child. There was an ambulance that was dispatched but it was coming from a long distance away.

Medical Care Continued During the Ride

That is when the child was loaded into the patrol unit and one deputy took the wheel, the other deputy was providing real-time medical information to dispatch.

Deputies continued to provide medical attention until they arrived at the hospital, and they were able to get the child to breathe while transporting them. The child was handed over to local emergency staff at the ER. The child was later transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

Doctor Says Deputies Likely Saved the Child

The Emergency Staff Doctor said the deputies likely saved the child’s life.
