Texans Can Avoid Valentine’s Day Mistakes: Give The Right Flowers
According to the National Retail Federation, Valentine's Day spending is expected to hit an all-time high of $27.5 billion in 2025. On average, Texas couples will spend about $188 on each other.
The majority will be spent on candy, followed by flowers, cards, dinner, and jewelry. Others will go all out and plan a weekend getaway.
Now every couple is in a different stage of their relationship and they may choose to celebrate Valentine's Day differently. Some may celebrate and others may treat it as another day.
For those who celebrate and choose to send flowers to someone, the color of the flower you send can send a special 'hidden' meaning.
Convey the right message with the flowers you send for Valentine's Day
If you've been dating someone for three years, yellow roses might not be the right choice for you.
If you've been dating someone for a couple of weeks, red roses might not be the right choice for you.
If you've been dating someone and recently ended your relationship, the 'black rose' might be the right choice for you.
If you've been dating someone for five years, then a Lilly might not be the correct flower to send.

It's just not the color of the flower that has meaning, but the type too
Roses usually symbolize love and appreciation for an individual.
Lilies are usually a sign of friendship, and condolence and show that we generally care.
Daisies are playful, sweet, and innocent and tend to work between friends and kids.
Tulips signify the spring and rebirth of nature and are typically seen when someone has recently had a major life change.
Gardenias can be a sign of secret love.
So when sending flowers to your special someone make sure you're conveying the right message. Of course, the card you send with the flowers can tell that person exactly how you feel about them.
