If there is one thing that people in Tyler, Texas can't do, it's coming to a consensus on what their favorite restaurant is in town. Ask a group of 25 people and you'll get 25 different answers.

When asking the question that question to a group of people, you'll have a couple of the same places mentioned, but oftentimes you'll have as many 'favorites' as you do participants in the unscientific survey. When it comes to eating out and supporting local restaurants, we're loyal to the ones that serve the best food, have a great atmosphere, or have the best employees.

If you're like me, you have a handful of places that you continually go to because they are extremely familiar. My wife is always trying to get me to branch out and try a new place or at least something new off the menu of the places we routinely frequent. So when I ran across this question on social media it gave me an idea to let others know what other Tyler residents are craving, but also as a way to branch out and try something new.

One simple question has generated hundreds of responses, with Tyler residents letting us all know their favorite place in town. The responses run the spectrum - Mexican food, upscale, Mediterranean, diner, seafood, fast food to American casual restaurants.

Now if you're stuck going to the same places as I am, maybe we should give these suggestions a try. Who knows, maybe one of these places will become our new favorite place. After all our tastes and cravings change over time, what once was our favorite place has now been replaced by another local joint or national chain restaurant.
