If you're like me and planned a cruise over the summer with Carnival, we've got some bad news.

Today, Carnival Cruise Line announced they are extending their sailing suspension in North America until the end of September. I was actually planning on cruising with my daughters for my birthday in August this year, so this news has put me in a rather cranky mood.

In a letter to staff and booked guests, Carnival President Christine Duffy wrote, "During this unprecedented pause in our business, we have continued to assess the operating environment and confer with public health, government and industry officials."

The original No Sail Order was put in place by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention and was set to expire on July 24th. Meaning all of us could enjoy those wonderful cruises this summer.

Sadly, now, it seems as though we'll have to wait until the end of September, at the earliest. Carnival initially announced a voluntary 30-day pause in operations on March 13th. They extended that pause three times since the original announcement.

At this point, I would steer-clear from cruise bookings altogether. Sadly, none of us truly know when we'll be able to cruise again, just I would recommend playing it safe until boats are officially allowed to cruise whether it be with Carnival or anyone else.
