On Oct. 22 at 9 a.m., the inaugural Rose City Rotor Fest will commence at the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum. The event will bring helicopters from The American Heroes Air Show and the American Veteran Traveling Tribute Wall (AVTT) to Tyler. The AVTT is a replica of the Vietnam wall in Washington, DC and will be on display as early as Friday, Oct. 21 so that groups and schools may visit.

Since 1993, the American Heroes Air Show has grown to become the nation’s premier, helicopter–only, admission-free aviation event. Attendees will spend the day seeing rotor aircraft up close and learn about them from their pilots and crew. The airshow is designed to educate the public, media and community officials about rotary-wing aviation’s diverse capabilities in law enforcement, public safety, communications and search and rescue as well as homeland security and national defense.

Additional attractions include Keynote Speaker Congressman Louis Gohmert, the Liberty Jump Team, Men in Harmony, the TJC Jazz Band, food vendors, helicopter rides and a CODE3 Career Expo featuring recruiting teams from law enforcement, public service and the military. Private vendors, public service organizations, the media and local elected officials will team up to highlight the finest public safety resources in the community.

The Historical Aviation Memorial Museum will also be open for tours throughout the event. The museum pays tribute to the pioneers of flight and patriots instrumental in the advancement of aviation through the display of aviation memorabilia and aircraft.

Admission to the Rose City Rotor Fest is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The airshow will be held at the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport (Old Terminal location) located at 150 Airport Dr. in Tyler.
