Word to the wise! If a homeowner tells you to get off their roof, you should do it. Otherwise you might experience the strength of an 83-year-old man who's tired of waiting. In La Puente, California an elderly grandfather helped a man off his roof by THROWING HIM OFF - ending an hours-long standoff with the police, according to ABC 7.

I’m going up on the roof, and that sucker’s coming off.

The story reports the suspect was on top of homes for hours, refusing police and crisis negotiators to come down and that’s when 83-year-old Wilford Burgess came into action.  He said he was determined to get that individual off his home so he went to his neighbor’s home and got a ladder and told officers he was climbing onto the roof.

While Wilford was on the roof, his granddaughter was recording the entire situation on video and once he gave the suspect the “BIG PUSH” the guy formerly on the roof was taken into custody.  His granddaughter Ashley Wren was very thankful her grandfather was protecting his family.  Burgess said in a statement:

You come to my house, you don't have to worry about him because I'll be all over it cause I'm going to load up.  I said…I’m going up on the roof, and that sucker’s coming off.  I tell everybody, 'Just because you're old, that don't mean you got to sit down. As long as you're able to move, move.

Burgess works out on the regular and he said staying in shape is important for him in his 80’s.  I salute Mr. Burgess on protecting his home and family and am thankful that he wasn’t injured.  As for that suspect on the roof, now he knows how “Jazz” feels when he’s not welcome into the Banks household on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
