For those of us who have grown up in East Texas, we know that Tyler can be kind of dull on the weekends. But if you do a little research like we did, you'd be surprised at the things actually going on around town. So to spare you from sitting at home being a couch potato all weekend long, we put together a list of things going on around East Texas.

First for your Friday night entertainment, what else is there other than good ol' East Texas football? If you've never been to an East Texas Football game, you need to go. It doesn't even matter who you go support. Although I am partial to Whitehouse Wildcats, they are playing in Corsicana this week, but I think it's worth a road trip. But if you'd rather stay closer to home, the Arp Tigers will be taking on Daingerfield on home turf, and the Longview Lobo's will be at home taking on Marshall. If football isn't your thing, then join Radio Texas Live With Buddy Logan on 101.5 at Electric Cowboy tonight for an awesome show put on by the one and only Mr. Charlie Robison! Doors open at 7 p.m. with Robert Stowell opening, and then Charlie Robinson taking the stage later on in the evening. This show will be a good one, one you definitely do not want to miss.

If you're in the Longview area, Saturday afternoon there is a Multicultural Film Festival at the Longview Public Library from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. You can get more info here. Saturday night brings a couple good options as well. The TJC Apaches will take on Coffeyville Community College at 7 p.m. at the Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. This is bound to be a good game. If you want to get out and support local students and watch a good game, this is the place to be. Or, you can head on over to Liberty Hall for the East Texas All-Star Showcase. Now this is definitely something you won't want to miss. 9 bands, 2 stages, a night full of non-stop entertainment. You can get a list of bands and more information here.

So, maybe weekends in East Texas aren't as lame as we think. Hopefully one of these things sparks your interest and you go out and find something fun to do this weekend. There is absolutely plenty to do!
