Whitehouse Native, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Wins at ESPYS
Whitehouse native and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, lit up the NFL in his first full season as a starter last season. He took his Chiefs to the AFC Championship but fell to the eventual NFL Champion New England Patriots.
Patrick did take home NFL MVP, becoming the youngest since Dan Marino to win that honor.
During last night's (July 10) ESPY Awards on ABC, Patrick took home some more hardware, Best NFL Player according to KLTV. He was also nominated in the Best Male Athlete category but lost to NBA star Giannis Anteokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.
A neat moment is when Patrick was talking about watching the ESPYS as a kid and his mom, Randi Mahomes, said that she would be his date if he ever made it to the awards show. She was with him last night. That's her in the background with the Kansas City Chiefs clutch.
Congratulations Patrick. All of East Texas is proud of you. Chiefs training camp begins July 27 with their first preseason game against the Bengals August 11.
