East Texas, we're knocking on the door of another weekend! After a full work week, it's about taking time for yourself. Time to do something that you want to do in Tyler, Athens, Henderson, Longview, Gilmer, or Jacksonville, Texas. That something you do could be something extremely familiar to you or better yet, venture out and do something unexpected and out of the ordinary.

There are quite a few outdoor and indoor events happening this weekend. At this time it's a better bet on the indoor events or the ones that are going to offer enough cover from the rain and showers that are expected throughout East Texas through early Saturday afternoon.

Canton First Monday Trade Days

First Monday Trade Days grounds - Canton

Shop til you drop at the world's largest and oldest flea market. First Monday Trade Days has more than just a little something for everyone, they have a lot for everyone! There is something there just waiting for you to purchase that you just can't live without. There is also live music and plenty of food to satisfy any appetite.

UDOG UKC Dog Show

Longview Exhibit Center - Longview

The United Dog Owners Group will host a UKC Dog Show at the Longview Convention Complex Exhibit Center. There will be two shows each day that consist of Conformation Dog Shows and Rally Obedience Trials. Admission to watch is free.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Broughton Recreation Center - Longview

Dads, bring your little princess out for a night full of fun, laughter, and dancing. Light refreshments and treats will be served. Dads and daughters of all ages are welcome. This is a ticketed event.

Community Run Clinic For The Fresh 15

Fresh By Brookshire's - Tyler

Run the Fresh 15 Course: Hit the pavement with our experienced coaches and explore the key sections of the Fresh 15 route. Familiarize yourself with the twists, turns, and exhilarating hills that make this race one for the books! There will be tips for pacing and fueling and course overviews along with a general Q & A session. This is a free event, but registration is requested.

First Saturday Hike At Tyler State Park

This hike is a group-led hike and the group decides which trails the group follows. Bring your water, bug repellent, sunscreen, and dogs on a leash for this trip through nature. There is an admission charge to the state park.

Main Street - Palestine

This family-friendly event is held on the first Saturday of each month to feature all the fun things to see and do in the 44 blocks of the Palestine Main Street District in downtown Palestine. There will be shopping, activities, lots of open restaurants, catch a play at the community theater, see the model train exhibit and so much more.
