The Killers, Depeche Mode and Others Cover U2′s Entire ‘Achtung Baby’ Album
To mark the 20th anniversary of U2‘s ‘Achtung Baby,’ The Killers, Depeche Mode, The Fray and other notable artists have contributed to a start-to-finish reinterpretation of the classic album.
‘AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered,’ also featuring a remix of U2′s original version of ‘Even Better Than the Real Thing,’ will be included in Q magazine‘s 25th anniversary issue, which hits newsstands October 26.
The covers project has made quite an impression on U2 singer Bono.
“It’s strange, because when I hear the album, when U2 do it, all I hear is what’s wrong with it,” he says. “But when I heard all these artists doing it, I thought, ‘It’s really good.’”
The mother load of new ‘Achtung Baby’-related projects arrives November 1 with the release of multiple 20th-anniversary album packages. Among them is a super-deluxe edition that includes a DVD copy of the documentary ‘From the Sky Down.’ Eager fans can check it out a few days in advance when the film airs October 29 on Showtime.
