If you missed out on attending the Taste Of Tyler, you'll want to make sure to attend next years event.

The East Texas Restaurant Association put on one big show Thursday night at Harvey Convention Center with more than sixty Tyler area restaurants on site serving up some of the best options from their menus. There were ribs, lasagna, cakes, cookies, pizza, sandwiches, fajitas, pies and so many more options available for attendees to sample along with coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer and wine.

Thursday's event helped to offer East Texas students culinary scholarships to TJC, Kilgore College and Stephen F. Austin.

One of the highlights of the evening was the high school culinary competition featuring two teams each from Whitehouse and Chapel Hill and a team from Tyler ISD cooking up a meal from the mystery pantry. After creating their spectacular dishes for the judges to be judged on taste and presentation, the Tyler ISD team took home first place, followed by the Chapel Hill white team and one of the Whitehouse teams placing third.

The Tuxedo Cats and the UT Tyler Jazz Band entertained while everyone was dining.

We are already looking forward to next year's Taste Of Tyler when Tashara Parker from CBS 19 and I will have more fun!
