We kicked off Thanksgiving Week with a fast moving cold front, so what does that mean for turkey day?

I came to work Monday in a short sleeved "Rose City Music Festival" t-shirt and when I left the studio, I was wearing a long sleeve shirt over my t-shirt and put a jacket on.

We saw temps that started Monday morning in the high 70s which made everything think the we were in for another Thanksgiving with girls in booty shorts and guys in tank tops but it looks like its going to be quite the opposite. I mean sheesh, it is the fall.

If You're Traveling Somewhere Else In Texas For Thanksgiving, what will the weather be like?

One thing we know for sure is that we're just now getting the first of 2 expected cold fronts in the Lone Star State this week but there will be a slight warm-up in between. Here in East Texas, highs will be in the 50s on Turkey Day and Black Friday but low temps will drop into the 30s just above freezing, but no snow in our forecast.

But there could be the possibility of SNOW somewhere in Texas on Thanksgiving Day so you'll definitely will want to keep your jackets and mittens on deck depending on where you'll be enjoying the holiday at.

Let's start out in West Texas out in the El Paso area.

According to the National Weather Service, dry weather and seasonal temperatures are expected on both Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

A cold front will move in from the north on Thanksgiving bringing cooler air to the area. West to northwest winds 5 to 15 mph are expected on Thanksgiving and Black Friday with partly cloudy to cloudy skies.

Things Might Ugly In North And Central Texas.

High temperatures are currently forecast to be in the low 50s to low 60s with partly to mostly cloudy skies seeing some clearing during the afternoon. Breezy conditions are expected with wind 10-15 mph gusting to around 20-25 mph.

But the drama is set to begin on Thanksgiving night. The first widespread freeze of the season will occur across the majority of North Texas and into portions of Central Texas Thursday night into Friday morning. Expect low temperatures ranging from the upper 20s to mid 30s Friday morning.

South Texas & Houston

Thanksgiving highs are expected in the mid-to-upper 60s for most of Southeast Texas. Black Friday morning will be cold, with lows in the mid-40s. The day will warm into the low 60s from San Antonio to Houston.

The Panhandle Could See Snow On Thanksgiving Day.

The NWS says they are monitoring the potential for some very light snow in the western Panhandles late Wed night into Thanksgiving morning. Some flurries could even get as far east as Amarillo.

Overall, still a very light snow event expected. However, the far NW Panhandles could see a very light accumulation, with even a small chance for up to an inch of snow. Impacts from the snow will be very limited and more confined to the NW Panhandles where snowfall accumulation potential is the greatest.
