(KNUE-FM) No one enjoys it when their power goes out, but it’s just something most people in Texas prepare for as it normally happens during Spring storm season.

My first thought is always questioning if we paid the bill, even though I know we did.

But when you lose electricity, especially at your house, it can leave you feeling desperate.

You’ve already spent lots of money on all the items staying cool in your refrigerator and freezer, you don’t want those things to spoil.

But you’re also not sure how long the power is going to be out. Crews work quickly to restore electricity, but in most instances it’s a waiting game.

We all know that when your power goes out, it’s a big inconvenience.

Although there are things we can do or buy in preparation for the outages which makes the experience at least better than it could be.

It’s Important to Be Prepared

Being prepared can make dealing with power outages so much easier.

It’s important to stay weather aware because you never know when a storm could sneak up on us.

And you definitely want to make sure your cell phone is charged prior to any weather that has a chance of knocking out power.

If you have any elderly neighbors, make sure you check on them during power outages as well.

Power outages always seem to happen when you’re busy on the farm and with this summer’s predicted blackouts, farmers need to start thinking about how they will adjust their operations to manage it.
