Most people know how dangerous drinking and driving can be, besides the fact that it’s illegal in Texas. Although for some reason there are lots of people that still choose to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol.

But law enforcement is taking action as we see that there were more DWI’s reported in Texas in 2024 compared to 2023.

Over 85,000 DWI’s in Texas Last Year

I would have thought that with technology making it easier to get a ride home that DWI numbers in Texas would have gone down but that is not the case.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety there were a total of 85,002 DWI charges that were reported in 2023, compared to 85,858 in 2024.

There were also less people getting their DWI charges dropped in 2023 4,554 people were released with no charges in 2024 that number dropped to 1,990.

So, if you think that law enforcement might give you a break if you’re caught drinking and driving, you’re wrong.

How Many DWI Cases Were Dropped Last Year in Texas?

In 2023, there were 9,818 DWI charges that were dropped for one reason or another, but in 2024 there were only 2,555 DWI dismissals.

These numbers once again show that if you’re caught drinking and driving you will be paying the consequences.

STOP Drinking and Driving in Texas!

You could kill yourself or another person, drinking and driving is not worth it. Especially as there are so many different ways to get home after drinking alcohol.

My cousin was killed by a drunk driver, I have seen the horrible consequences of DWI’s. Don’t put your family or any family through that pain.

Make 2025 the year that you NEVER drink and drive ever again.
