Governor Greg Abbott announced today that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is providing approximately $267 million in emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits for the month of August due to the state continuing its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Abbott tweeted "...About 500,000 residential customers [were] having power restored." Even more should have their power restored this evening.
As the pandemic rages on, many Texans are still struggling and have turned to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as SNAP, for help.
