We LOVE To Be Number One In A Lot Of Categories In Texas But This Is One We Don't Need To Be At The Top Of The List For.

No outdoor burning y'all.

If the skies of Texas seem a little smoky and hazy to you, its because large sections of West Texas are on fire.

Summer still has a strong hold on East Texas and with no rain in the immediate forecast, more counties are enacting burn bans.

This is hard. Every day, the Red Cross says 7 people die in home fires and most of them are in homes that don’t have working smoke alarms. Volunteers in East Texas are working to change that.

With the fires still burning in our listening area we got with officials from Red Cross to help you be ready in the event of an evacuation from your home. We hope you never have to implement this but we would rather be safe than sorry.

This morning in Lindale at 4am the smell of smoke was faint but still noticeable by the time I got in the car to leave for work at 7:15am the smoke smell was stronger.  The strong winds this weekend turned things from bad to worse when as local area Fire Fighters tried to keep local residents safe...
