Construction Challenges For Downtown Tyler Restaurants — Here’s How To Help
(Tyler, Texas) Businesses in downtown Tyler are counting on the community's support throughout the next couple of years as construction headaches begin.
The Downtown Improvement Project Brings Big Changes
If you’ve taken a look at downtown Tyler lately, you’ve probably noticed a lot of change happening. To begin with, the new Smith County Courthouse is finally taking shape — and it’s starting to look like the architectural renderings we’ve seen.
Downtown Tyler is also seeing major work on the west side of 'The Square'. The Square is going through a massive transformation with the Downtown Improvement Project. This is a multi-year project that is expected to be completed by early 2028. Once complete, an entirely new green space area will stretch from the square to where the current county courthouse sits. There will be walking paths, restrooms, a food truck area, along with new infrastructure, streets, and roundabouts on Broadway.

Local Businesses Feeling the Impact
Businesses in the downtown district are already feeling the effects of construction, with street closures, limited parking, and other disruptions. However, there is plenty of parking downtown and alternate entrances to these wonderful businesses.
Main Street Tyler Steps In to Help
To bring awareness to these businesses, the City of Tyler's Main Street department is helping to find creative ways to bring awareness and customers to their front door, or in some cases, their back door!
Main Street Tyler is encouraging residents to continue visiting and dining downtown throughout the construction. Many of these downtown restaurants offer some form of delivery, but not all. For those who don't, Main Street staff will be volunteering to act as their delivery service during normal business hours during this construction event.

Visit, Dine, and Shop Local During Construction
Downtown Tyler offers restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and specialty eateries that have catering options, accept group orders, and individual orders. Downtown Tyler specialist Lindsey Froneberger says, "Supporting Downtown businesses right now means ensuring they'll still be here when the dust settles. Each order makes a difference." For more information on this service, you may contact any of the following downtown restaurants or the Downtown Visitors Center.
Keep these great restaurants in mind during this construction period and make it a point to make it downtown to have coffee, lunch, or dinner.
