Smith County Man Arrested for Assaulting a 2-Year-Old

A toddler is recovering in a Dallas hospital after she was allegedly severely beaten by her mother’s boyfriend.

Authorities have arrested 28-year-old Joshua Robert Williams after the little girl was found unresponsive by her mother last week.

Investigators determined the child’s injuries were not consistent to a fall as first reported and arrested Williams Monday.

The toddler had to undergo emergency surgery to repair a damaged kidney. She is expected to recover and will remain hospitalized for several more days.

Williams is jailed on bonds totaling $250,000.
