On an extremely hot day at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas one of the best rides to catch a break from the heat and cool down on is the Roaring Rapids. You ride a raft in a raging river and get splashed and you get cooled off.

The ride started out normally and guests were getting wet as normal while aboard a raft Monday afternoon, but after the ride, some extremely tense and terrifying moments played out in front of other guests in the queue line waiting for their turn to get on.

In the following video, you can see that one raft became lodged against a pillar at the end of a pier that diverts rafts to either side to disembark at the station platform. Two other rafts came up on either side causing a jam-up of four rafts in the same area. As a fifth raft descended upon the four, one of the rafts started taking on water with guests still inside.

As soon as this happened three guests jumped from the raft to get to the safety of the pier while a younger boy jumped in but was short of the landing. The boy was swimming but the current was too strong for him and bystanders were yelling, 'Get the boy. Get the kid.'

He was pulled to safety by another guest in the water and a park maintenance employee who was on the scene. Thankfully no one was injured and all of the guests were accounted for and safely exited the ride.

Six Flags Over Texas said after a ride malfunction one of the rafts at Roaring Rapids became stuck. Guests were told to remain seated in the raft while the ride was restarted. All guests safely exited the ride and there were no injuries. (WFAA)

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for an Arkansas woman who drowned on the ride in 1999 when the raft she was riding in flipped over.

15 Defunct Six Flags Over Texas Rides That Have Been Removed But Not Forgotten

These rides once stood proud and brought joy and terror, in some cases, to those who rode them at Six Flags Over Texas. These rides no longer exist at Six Flags Over Texas. Yes, The New Texas Giant is there, but The Texas Giant went through a complete remodel and redesign and received an upgraded steel track and has a new configuration, and is no longer like the OG, The Texas Giant.
