While the housing market here in Tyler, Texas might have slowed down just a little bit lately, there are still lots of people that are moving to East Texas all the time. And to be honest, I understand why, it’s beautiful here and there are lots of things to do if you want to have some fun. But whether you’re moving to Tyler or have lived here for your entire life, you’re going to want to check out this list of the safest neighborhoods in Tyler.
This list of the safest Tyler neighborhoods was put together by Neighborhood Scout. And when you’re looking at the numbers overall it’s a reminder that we all need make sure we are doing everything possible to be safe, their crime index score indicated that Tyler is safer than only 10% of U.S. Cities. I found that statistic to be quite alarming because while we hear about crime here, I’ve never felt unsafe living here in Tyler.
What Statistics Created the List of Safest Neighborhoods?
Neighborhood Scout was looking at the number of crimes, crime rate per 1,000 residents, number of violent crimes, number of property crimes, and number of crimes per square mile. The numbers that looked the worst to me was the crimes per square mile. The average in Texas is 27, and in Tyler we have 61 per square mile. We need to do better.
Property Crime is a Problem in Tyler, Texas
It was alarming to also find out that according to these stats you have a one in 38 chance of being a victim of property crime such as burglary, larceny over $50, vehicle motor theft, or arson. This should be a reminder to make sure you lock your vehicle and home every time you leave them unattended.
