Free Gym Time Returns for Teens This Summer
(Mix 93-1) Exercising and engaging in physical activity are essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Each year, people spend hundreds of dollars on gym memberships to get access to free weights, weight machines, treadmills, saunas, personal trainers, and more so they can maintain their physiques.

Gym members have found that 'sweet time' to hit the gym so they can get their workout in and not worry about how busy it is. They know when the machines are going to be the busiest, so they try to avoid those times at all costs.
Planet Fitness is about to become busier
There are a couple of times a year when the gym population tends to explode and get busier:
- right after the Christmas and New Year's holidays
- when the weather begins turning colder in the late fall months
- at the beginning of summer
You might be asking yourself why the gym gets busier in the summer. Well, that's because school is out and teens are looking for a way to stay in shape for their upcoming sports season, because they don't have access to school equipment.
The 'High School Summer Pass' returns
For the past few years, Planet Fitness has invited teens between the ages of 14 and 19 to work out for free during the summer at any of their 2500+ fitness locations across the US and Canada, and the program is back for summer 2025.
Beginning June 1st and ending on August 31st, teens can register for the program and work out for free anytime during the summer.
Planet Fitness says since the program's inception, they have,
invested more than $200 million in waived membership dues to promote youth health and wellness and improve the physical and mental health of millions of teens."
Exercise during Mental Health Month
The program coincides with Mental Health Month purposely to help teens prioritize their physical and mental health during a crucial time of the year when school is out and their academics and extracurricular activities are on hold.

Not only will the program give teens access to workout equipment, but by participating in the program, they are getting physical activity and less screen time, it will help improve overall mental health, protect against developing depression, anxiety, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, according to the company's press release.
When teens participate in the program, they will receive free fitness training from in-club certified fitness trainers and workouts designed for high schoolers.
So, as regular gym goers notice an increase in the number of teens and people in the gym, they'll have to be patient just like they do for those that return when it turns colder outside and for when all the New Year's Resolutioners hit the gym at the beginning of the year.
