Raising children can be difficult. As parents, we are constantly watching over our children and our worry meter is never turned off. I know, because I have two beautiful grown daughters, and now am a Mimi to three spirited grandchildren.

Thankfully, I never had any harrowing moments like this Colorado family. Lindsey McIver and her husband, Alan, shared a recent incident about the danger of front-loading machines and young, inquisitive children.

This open and honest post touched my heart, not only for the ordeal they went through, but for the courage it took to be transparent.

In her post, Lindsey stated:

I realize that there are ways we could’ve prevented this from happening. This is the season for swimming pool accidents and kids being left in hot cars and all sorts of other horrible accidents. And that’s what most of them are. Accidents.

She's right. No matter how hard you try, sometimes your little munchkins can manage to get themselves in harm's way anyway. That's why I am glad this mother chose to post what happened as a warning to others, and from the comments, many others share the same sentiment. To date, this post has over 145,000 reactions and has been shared over 300,000 times.

A valuable lesson learned, and thankfully not at the expense of her child's life.
