RUMOR: Which Legendary Tex-Mex Spot In Tyler Closed This Week?
Fans Of The Now Closed Eatery Began Talking About It On Social Media.
We are a little more than halfway through 2024, and several major chain restaurants are facing the challenge of closing locations across Texas, reflecting broader economic and industry-wide shifts.
From fast-casual spots to family dining establishments, the closures span both large cities and smaller towns, leaving many residents without their familiar dining options. For folks in North Tyler, which has seen its fair share of dining options come and go, one of their favorites is no more.
Posado's Cafe Opened At 3040 W Gentry Parkway In 2016
Owner Andy Gugar opened Mercado’s in South Tyler, Texas back in 1986 after starting up several restaurant chains in the 70's including Hickory Faire Bar-B-Q.
At its height, there were 16 Posados Cafe restaurants throughout East Texas, including locations in Dallas/Fort Worth and Louisiana according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.
But like most restaurants, the pandemic took its toll on business and several locations quietly closed over the last few years. There are now 5 Posado's Cafe locations open.
The Posado's On Gentry Has Been Closed Since Last Week.
Regulars of the North Tyler Gentry location began posting photos on social media of a sign on the front door of the restaurant that stated it was closed and directing them to dine at their location on N. 5th Street in Tyler.
As word quickly spread, those who went to the 5th Street location, stated that employees there were told that the Gentry was closed and would not be reopening with some staff being moved over to the 5th Street location and others let go.
The restaurant was considered to be a popular location for North Tyler residents for years which is why many find its closing to be puzzling. No official announcement was given by the company as to why but we will keep you posted.
